Capital FM mainly plays chart music and music that is popular, usually only mainstream artists appear on the station, however, sometimes up and coming artists do get played but only when they've almost become famous or well known. Capital FM listeners are usually aged between 16-34, mainly teenagers and students who enjoy popular music and don't have high disposable income to spend on CD's or actually buying the music itself. Listeners enjoy hearing about the latest news and often tweet the station for a mention or to voice their feelings about a particular track or artist. Capital FM is seen as a family station.
KISS plays mostly R&B and Hip-Hop. KISS listeners are usually aged between 16-26 and like less mainstream music and more a more urban type of sound. Listeners tune in expecting to hear their favourite music and would not expect to hear a rock or indie artist on the station. Topics discussed on air can be more controversial than those heard on Capital FM.
